A Season of Sensory Slowness
NOVEMBER 08 2022
This November I'm continuing to savor and embrace more of the sweet slowness from last month as much as I can. And to elevate and further enhance that slowness, I'm leaning into my senses for more intentional moments to take full advantage before the hectic-ness of holiday season is in full swing next month. Here are some objects and rituals currently bringing my heart joy:
001 Reflect // Sunday newsletters from The Marginalian invite space for reflection and contemplation on topics "spanning art, science, poetry, philosophy, and other tendrils of our search for truth, beauty, meaning, and creative vitality." I deeply anticipate Maria Popova's heartfelt words dropping into my inbox each weekend. This touching piece on Shel Silverstein's 'The Missing Piece Meets The Big O' will leave your soul quite stirred ✨
002 Listen // I'm supporting the slowness of the season through audible ease for my soul with (literal) soul. Leon Bridges, you've been (and will continue to be) on repeat.
003 See // Small Line Etchings by Sol LeWitt — a lovely collection of intimate works by the prolific artist, which I'm appreciating this month for their simplicity, fluidity, and form. An unexpected but beautiful deviation from LeWitt's inherent bold, structured, and geometric art, yet one I am loving equally as much.
004 Taste // I've been eyeing these A Coste Etched Wine Glasses from the Athena Calderone collection at Crate & Barrel to elevate my sipping experiences this season. Not exclusive to fancy-events-only either: a late afternoon Spindrift with some fresh fruit feels divine to try.
005 Touch // After house-sitting for my best friend while she was away on vacation last month, I fell in love with her Casaluna Waffle Bath Towels. So I promptly went to Target once my shift came to a close and invested in some for myself 😆 They are 100% cotton, textured lovelies and I'll be wrapping myself in them all season long post hot showers and delicious epsom salt baths.
006 Smell // These Boheme beauty candles were eyed on a trip to Newburyport with my boyfriend last month in a darling little interiors store and the aesthete in me couldn't help but appreciate their lovely packaging. I didn't invest, but they may / may not be sitting in my online cart for a purchase very very soon as we speak 😏
