the power of pillars
Villa Savoye, Le Corbusier & Pierre Jeanneret, Poisy, France, 1930
If someone were to ask you what the top 5 things you value most in life are, what would you say?
When you ask someone what is most important to them, they may think over your question for a few seconds and respond with things like family, fulfillment, and freedom. Maybe they say trust, integrity, and service. Or adventure, vulnerability, and creative expression. However, when you look at their everyday actions, the decisions they make and the words they speak, their behaviors may surprise and inform you otherwise
Like the pillars used in Le Corbusier’s Villa Savoye to elevate and support the beautiful building, we each carry our own subjective “structures” that support us and reinforce all that we do. Many people like to refer to these as values — key principals, beliefs or standards that are most important to us, and by which we live out our daily lives. If you are a creative entrepreneur, your business has its own unique values too. Similar to our personal principals, they guide our companies by informing all of the objective practices and decisions that we make.
When confusion or stagnancy in our personal and professional lives arise, it could point to a number of things. Looking at, identifying, and connecting with our values — our structural Pillars — can be one approach to offer some incredible clarity and guidance. Your Pillars are your guiding structures, informing your most authentic expression and things that matter to you most. If you don’t know or have never considered what these core ideals are, you can uncover them a through a series of simple, yet specific questions. This intentional digital workbook will walk you through a series of prompts to identify your Pillars in life and business, as well as insights on how to shift the behaviors that don’t align for deeper fulfillment and joy.

OUR WHY
Why We Created This Workbook
Have you ever read a book that you feel changed your life? Or (to be a little less dramatic), opened up your eyes to a radical new perspective that you never considered before? That’s how we felt when we picked up The Values Factor by Dr. John Demartini, a powerfully insightful read on identifying what matters most to you in life, and then encouraging you to live that life in deeper alignment with those things.
We created this workbook based on many of the principles from Dr. Demartini’s book, and formatted it to include a unique section on business after stepping onto our own entrepreneurship journey with our dear studio domka. After doing the practices from The Values Factor, we were left with a surprising clarity and an empowering knowing on what we truly value most in our personal lives. In navigating our business this year, we were inspired to apply these practices in our professional lives as well, and have even integrated them in our unique Brand Expression (Strategy) service for our clients, helping them to uncover the “pillars” most important to them and their companies.
Awareness is power, and the more of it we can garner about our selves (and our businesses accordingly), the more we can live life and lead our professions from a more aligned, authentic, and fulfilling place. This free workbook was created to help more humans along their journeys pause and come to know deeper. Because ultimately, the deeper the knowing we each have, the closer we can come back to home.
